Tea Leoni and David Duchovny’s divorce includes child support

Deep Impact star Tea Leoni and Californication star David Duchovny filed for divorce in the recent months. Many Massachusetts fans may also remember Duchovny from other shows such as the X-Files. Now, the couple’s divorce and child custody matters have been finalized.

Leoni and Duchovny got married back in 1997, but in 2008 they became separated. While they were separated, Duchovny was treated for a sex addiction. After just a few months, the pair got back together, but they broke apart again in 2011. This time, the couple reportedly experienced a breakdown of the marriage that was irretrievable. The couple has two children together who are ages 12 and 15.

Under the settlement terms of the divorce, the two have agreed to share legal custody of the two children while Leoni will retain primary physical custody of them. Also, Duchovny is expected to pay $40,000 a month in spousal support and over $8,000 a month in child support. According to reports, the pair was able to settle the divorce on their own.

Divorce is typically a difficult time for Massachusetts couples to experience, particularly when the marriages lasted for extensive time periods. In some cases, spouses are able to finalize their divorce in an amicable manner, while others have intense disputes. Sometimes, disputes can be settled with a third-party mediator without ever having to enter a courtroom. However, when disputes are too overwhelming for spouses to handle, the family court system resolves these types of matters and determines property distribution and any other financial support.
