How business assets are divided within a divorce

For Massachusetts business owners, divorce can lead to a huge shift in not only one's personal life, but also in the structure of their business venture. Many spouses are fearful of sustaining devastating losses as a result of their divorce, and are eager to find a strategy that can protect their business interests. In some cases, a spouse is able to retain their business, but only by giving up virtually all of their other assets in the process.

Massachusetts property: To sell or not to sell the marital home

Massachusetts couples going through divorce proceedings are faced with a lot of issues that have to be worked out. Property division, in particular, can be an area that creates a lot of tension during litigation and can lengthen the time it takes to finalize a divorce agreement, if the couple can't come to terms they are both satisfied with. While some small things may be easy to pick through and divide, deciding what to do with bigger ticket items, such as the marital home, can take a little more negotiation.

Program supports Massachusetts Child Support Guidelines

The Brockton Area Fatherhood Program was set up to help troubled men change their lives, be good fathers and keep up with their child support payments. The program teaches men how to be better parents by providing lessons in child safety, how to better express affection and how to have good listening skills. With the help of this program, it is hoped these men will have the support they need to learn the importance of family responsibilities, and how to adhere to Massachusetts Child Support Guidelines.

Grandmother allowed visitation rights to her granddaughter

A Massachusetts grandmother from Hardwick has been granted visitation rights to speak to her 9-year-old granddaughter. It had been 2 years since the woman spoke to her granddaughter. The girl's mother, also the grandmother's daughter, died from a horseback riding accident in 2005. Since the mother's death, the girl has been living with her father. The grandparents have been fighting for visitation rights because they were concerned about their grand-daughter's well-being.
